What people ask us before a project like this starts.
How is this different from off-the-shelf software?
It fits your process exactly, instead of forcing you to fit someone else’s, and you own it. Off-the-shelf software is cheaper to start and harder to bend; custom software costs more up front and removes the workarounds your team has quietly built around the gaps.
Should we build this or buy something off the shelf?
Buy it where the process is standard and a product already does it well. Build it where the process is the thing you compete on, where no product fits without heavy workarounds, or where licence costs grow faster than the work does. We will say which applies to you, including when the honest answer is to buy.
Will it integrate with what we already use?
That’s usually the point. We connect to your existing tools rather than replacing everything.
What if requirements change mid-build?
They will. We work in working demos, so you steer as we go instead of at the end.
Do we own the code?
Yes: the code, the data and the infrastructure. No lock-in.
How do you handle security?
Least-privilege access, sensible data handling and auditing built in from day one rather than bolted on before launch. Secrets stay out of the codebase, dependencies are kept current, and anything holding personal data is designed against GDPR obligations from the first architecture conversation.
Can you maintain it after launch?
Yes, via a monthly retainer with a senior contact who knows your stack.

The Local Enterprise Office Grow Digital Voucher pays 50% of eligible digital adoption costs, up to €5,000: off-the-shelf software subscriptions, their configuration and training. It does not cover bespoke website development or custom software, and you need a completed Digital for Business project first. We scope which parts of your project qualify before you spend a euro.
