Two events. Two countries. One booking engine.

Lumenia runs the one event where organisations watch the leading ERP systems demonstrated back to back, to the same script, over two days. We rebuilt it as a single site carrying two events, in two countries, in two currencies.

The brief

ERP buyers don’t browse. They evaluate.

Choosing an ERP system is a decision an organisation lives with for a decade, and most of it happens in vendor meetings that are impossible to compare. HEADtoHEAD compresses it into two days: the leading systems demonstrated back to back, to the same fixed script, in front of the same room.

The site had to explain that format to someone who had never heard of it, give a finance lead the detail to justify two days out of the office, and do it twice, because this is one site, two events, two countries and two companies.

Event track record

The credibility was already there. It just wasn’t visible.

Running the format since 2010, and none of that record was doing any work on the old site. We put it directly under the promise, where a first-time visitor meets it before the pitch rather than after it.

Homepage

Built around one decision: go, or don’t go.

The promise leads: compare the leading ERP software solutions. The track record sits directly beneath it, so credibility arrives before the pitch. Live event cards with running countdowns put both dates on screen immediately, and make it obvious which of the two events is currently open.

Templates

Five templates carry the whole event.

A deliberately small set of page types covers the journey from first look to booked place, each drawn for desktop and mobile, and each assembled from one component library rather than painted page by page.

The hard part

Two companies, two currencies, one website.

This is where the case stops being a website. Two events in two countries are two businesses that happen to share a brand, a domain and a booking flow.

01

Two entities, one codebase

Dublin and Birmingham are separate legal entities: each invoicing in its own currency, under its own VAT regime, into its own merchant account. The buyer should never have to think about any of it.

02

Why nothing off the shelf fitted

Ticketing platforms solve this by taking a cut of every seat and putting a third party between Lumenia and its own delegates. The plugin route solves it by assuming one merchant account per site. Neither was acceptable.

03

So the entity resolves first

Choose a place at the Dublin event and the order summary already names who is billing you and in what currency, Invoiced by Lumenia Consulting Ltd (EUR), with Irish VAT calculated on the net price. The UK event routes to the UK company, its own currency and its own rate, through the same interface.

The booking engine

Four steps, one order, one invoice.

A bespoke booking application, written as a dedicated WordPress plugin in vanilla JavaScript, sitting on WooCommerce, so every booking lands as a real order the client can refund and report on from an admin they already know.

Places

Group rates apply automatically. Net price, VAT and the billing entity are all named up front, before a single field is filled in.

Your details

The person paying and receiving the invoice, captured once, and never asked for again further down the flow.

Attendees

Each delegate gets their own record and their own day selection, so a three-seat booking is still three named people.

Review & pay

Handed to the Stripe account belonging to that event’s entity. One order, one invoice, in the right currency from the right company.

Under the hood

No plugin does this. So we wrote one.

Multi-entity billing, per-event currency and VAT, group pricing, per-delegate records and a template that changes state as one edition closes and the next opens. There is no plugin for that combination, so the booking engine is ours, and so is the data behind it.

Engineered

One event template serving three states (pre-registration, live booking, or opening soon), switched by a per-event setting, so the page changes on its own as one edition closes and the next opens. It is doing that on the site today.

Ticket prices managed net of VAT from a dedicated settings screen, independent of WooCommerce products.

Git workflow with GitHub Actions auto-deploy: a push to main builds and ships theme and plugin over SSH.

Branded transactional emails across the order lifecycle, and refunds straight from the dashboard.

Designed

Five templates, one component library.

A small, deliberate set of page types drawn for desktop and mobile, assembled from one library of buttons, cards and accordions on a shared token set, so the event brand holds across every page, and a new edition is a content change rather than a design project.

The result

One site. Two events, running themselves.

One website now runs two international events with correct currency and merchant separation, no third-party ticketing fees and no platform to be locked into. Pricing, content and orders are managed by Lumenia itself, in an admin they already knew how to use, and the event page changes state on its own as one edition closes and the next opens.

Our new ERP HEADtoHEAD™ website is live, a fresh look, easier navigation and a simpler way to explore and register for our events. Huge thanks to the Loco Digital team.

See it live

The engine is running in public.

The site is live, the countdowns are running, and the booking engine takes registration and payment for each event through the right company, in the right currency. Go and see which edition is open.
